Microsoft Windows 2012 Backup Server

Although unfortunate and often ill-timed, computer failures happen every day. They happen in large databases in huge corporations and in small personal computers. This data loss often costs time and money to fix. Some data can never be recovered at all in the worst circumstances, especially when a computer failure was not anticipated and not prepared for.

Thankfully, there are preventative measures and other options to help you when your computer fails to get your important data back, and Windows Server backup, a feature of Windows Server 2012, can help.

What is Microsoft Windows Server 2012?

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 is a powerful operating system built with cloud platforms in mind. Working with remote servers, it enables your pc or even large datacenters around the world free to network, improve storage options, and use virtualization as a tool to get you using your PC or other device effectively and efficiently.

Data is more important than ever in the technical world that we live in. Making sure that data is safe and recoverable is an important feature of Microsoft Windows 2012.

Windows Server Backup can copy important data for later restore

An important feature of Windows Server 2012 is Windows Sever Backup. Microsoft Server Backup, or Windows Server Backup, is a service that routinely backs up and brings back data from your applications that you would dread to lose. Restoring all the lost data after your computer has failed is known as a bare metal restore.

Microsoft Server Backup also enables your application software to be brought up as an isolated item to be restored in the Recovery Wizard. In other words, instead of having to reinstall data that you didn’t lose or don’t need to replace, you can choose to recover an individual application when running the Recovery Wizard.

These applications could vary from a single file to a whole network of data. The Windows Server Backup Microsoft Management Console snap-in serves a role in allowing you to see your cloud back up status, thanks to the registry keys and APIs that the Windows Server Backup provides. The cloud back up status may show you what is stored in the cloud or how much storage is free.

You can free space and time with Windows Server 2012

The Windows Server 2012 backup is convenient because you can individually back up many different things. For example, you can back up a single file or folder, or you can back up an entire system for bare metal restore. You can also back up remote computers, and it will run automatically.

The ability to centralize and select important information from your computer or network of computers enables you to free up space (no more backup discs!) and time should you ever need to use Windows Server backup.

Instead of passing an entire day backing up or restoring a whole computer, now it only takes hours or even minutes, depending on the material you are using Microsoft Server Backup for. Resources are maximized while combining servers efficiently.

How does Hyper-V and Windows Server 2012 work together?

The Hyper-V Server is used in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments on the Windows Server 2012 operating system. VDI permits a Windows client operating system to run in virtual, server-based machines in the datacenter. This system can be accessed from a PC or other client device. This full client virtual environment is held in a server-based hypervisor. Hyper-V centralizes users’ desktops.

This centralization ensures that if a failure should occur on the device or your PC, that the server you have used to run your operating system will not be corrupted. Basically, although you are using your own computer, you are also using a network of servers or a server that can help to run, maintain, and backup your computer.

This remote server or servers gives you constant access to data that you may need wherever you are and on whatever device you are using.

This is the advantage of using a virtual cloud platform. Devices that access the cloud can share important data, be synced, and use virtual storage instead of using free space on the device or devices being used.

Windows Server 2012 is for everyone

Windows Server 2012 is for anyone with a large corporation to someone with an individual computer. Familiarizing yourself with Windows Server 2012 backup can help you avoid a stressful and chaotic situation should your computer ever fail. You do not need to be an IT professional to use it.

However, if you are an IT professional, you can use the Hyper-V Server to eliminate oversimplified administration. It can help you to allocate resources and give you free storage options. Corporations can use Windows Server 2012 to remotely connect all important data together in one safe and efficient virtual storage unit. Knowing that specific data is not only safe but also recoverable if lost is an invaluable asset that many people are unwilling to overlook.

The added storage and remote access to items makes the software competitive and comparable with other similar systems and applications. Microsoft Windows Server 2012 is a positive choice for anyone that wants to protect important data.

Why use the free software that comes with Windows Server 2012?

While waiting for my commercial software “insert your favourite software here”  to upgrade to support Microsoft windows 2012.  I backup my server using the free software provided with windows 2012 server, “Windows Server Backup”.  The format it stores on the external hard drive is the same formatted as hyper-v.

If the unthinkable occurs, I could mount the image on a hyper-v and boot of it using the same hardware.  The problems I found with software is that unless you setup both of external hard drives at the same time.  It didn’t like me rotating external hard drives and complain about can’t find the hard drive.

The setup wizard for the software sets to daily backup and it would nice if I could choose the days.  Simple fix for editing the schedule  time is change the time in the control panel fix the problem.
